Friday Finds #2
This week has been full of cover/title/synopsis reveals for books I can’t wait to read, such as:
INVISIBILITY by Andrea Cremer & David Levithan (so gorgeous! sounds so good!)
TARNISH by Katy Longshore (Anne Boleyn, guys!)
IN THE SHADOW OF BLACKBIRDS by Cat Winters (Spanish influenza and ghosts and seances!)
listening to: the new Mumford & Sons album! favorite tracks right now are “I Will Wait” & “Lovers of the Light”
also listening to: my friend Jim Baker’s Queen City Experience podcast (this episode features talk about organization, Romney’s 47% comment & American views of the poor, and football)
reading: just finished (and loved) Tiffany Schmidt’s SEND ME A SIGN, which comes out Tues! Look for a glowing review then. Now starting BLACK CITY by Elizabeth Richards
book out this week that I most want to buy: SCORCH by Gina Damico
watching: new DOWNTON ABBEY, thanks to my sister sending it to me!!!
working on: doing for-reals-final tweaks on STAR CURSED before it goes to copyedits. Also having tons of ideas for book 3. Eeeeep!
working on, personally: refinancing our mortgage and taking my parents (who generously co-signed three years ago) off the title. Finally found a contractor to turn our little back yard into a patio and redo our front sidewalk. Ah, the joys of home ownership! (I really do love my house SO much and feel very lucky to own in ridic-expensive DC. But it’s been a LOT of paperwork!)
looking forward to: seeing Cirque de Soleil’s TOTEM tomorrow night. I’ve never seen a Cirque show before!
What about you?
Listening to: jazz holiday channel on pandora. Also many lullabyes.
Reading: David Copperfield. I just finished the first Game of Thrones book and am looking forward to reading the next one but first, for some reason, David Copperfield.
Watching: Six seasons of Bones. I need to watch season 7 when it is released in October and then catch up on the current episodes. I started watching this in my third trimester and I’m hooked.
Working on: motherhood and finding time/energy to start running again.
Looking forward to a weekend at the beach in october. Should be a different experince. Also, all things autumn!
Ooh, we haven't watched Bones, but we're loving Castle so much! Have you seen it? I think you would like it. I'm so excited for autumn, too! And I hope you aren't beating yourself up for not running right now – you have so much going on adjusting to your new-mommyhood. I also can't wait to see you two on Wed!
Enjoy Cirque de Soleil! I have never seen Totem but I have seen three of their shows now. So magical and lovely! Have fun!
Thanks, Megan! It was really fun. The clowning fell flat for me sometimes, and the overall story was…not so much with the sense-making, but I loved the acrobatics so much I didn't even care! Amazing!
