I’m currently working on a new project that I’m super excited about, and I’m hoping to have more news to share soon. In the meantime, the best place to find and connect with me online is Instagram.

SISTERS’ FATE Reviewer Appreciation Giveaway

Eeep! Look what arrived on my doorstep last week! SISTERS’ FATE advanced copies! I can’t believe it! I wrote a whole trilogy!!! SISTERS’ FATE is my favorite of the new covers, hands-down. I love the fiery sunset sky and how it features all three sisters but Cate’s the only one looking at you. I love that she and Tess are touching and she’s turned away from Maura. I can’t wait for everyone to read it! So…I would like to give one reader a chance to win a very early copy! I’d say that you would be the very first, but one wily blogger has already bargained with me to trade a SISTERS’ FATE ARC for CRESS, and because I am a book whore with a mad crush on Captain Carswell Thorne, I gladly agreed. So now you’ll be the very second? And since the book doesn’t come out until August,...

My Brain on NaNo

I deleted my NaNoWriMo account yesterday. I want to be the kind of writer who can write 50,000 words in a month. So many great books have started out as NaNo novels! So many authors I adore are participating and writing NaNo pep talks! I love the camaraderie of thousands and thousands of people striving toward the same goal – and that goal is writing a book, which is so cool!  I feel like I should be able to do this. Write fast. Banish that internal editor. Put everything else aside and focus on the writing for a month. Be open to inspiration and free from fear of failure and — And that’s where my disordered thinking comes in. I have an anxiety disorder, and part of the issue is that my brain loves to tell me all the things I should be doing better. It doesn’t ever think I’m good enough. I...

Promotional Goodies

Hi! I’m planning some posts on the new witchy trend (and why I chose to write about witches) and a post about my love-hate relationship with NaNo this week. But I wanted to do a separate post full of promotional goodies. First – I’m doing a holiday giveaway! Are you giving BORN WICKED or STAR CURSED as a gift this year? If so, send me the receipt at cahillwitch (at) gmail (dot) com and then fill out this form. To help make your gift more special, I’ll send you signed bookplates and bookmarks. And to thank you for spreading the Cahill love – which is so, so awesome of you! – I’ll email you two short Christmas scenes. They’re from Christmas 1895 – nine months before BORN WICKED starts – and it’s told first from Cate’s pov and then from Finn’s! This offer is open until December 15. Second – if you’re...

NaNo 2013 (plus a favorite recipe)

Hi! I officially bit the bullet & signed up for NaNoWriMo 2013! My goal is more of a half-NaNo (writing 25k in November). Are you signed up? What are you working on? I’m here if you want to be friends and cheer each other on! I also did a fun interview for the Fortnight of Fright about my favorite TV & book witches, and included one of my all-time favorite recipes: my mom’s chocolate-chip pumpkin muffins! And here are some cute pictures from my Strange & Scary Schools panel with Clay McLeod and Nathan Kotecki at Hooray for Books! on Wednesday. If you’re interested in any signed copies of BORN WICKED or STAR CURSED, you can call them!

October Update

EEP. I have been a hideous blogger lately. Sorry, guys! There’s actually been LOTS going on. First off, if you’re in the DC area…I’m doing an event tomorrow night (Wed, Oct 23) at Hooray for Books in Alexandria, VA! I’ll be talking about Strange & Scary Schools with Nathan Kotecki (SUBURBAN STRANGE) and Clay McLeod Chapman (TRIBE). It starts at 6:30, so…come see us? I’m going to wear my new Ravenclaw Quidditch t-shirt! #dork Second, I’ve been working on a proposal for a new YA book. It’s an idea that started as a writing exercise back in August, when I was teaching teen writing workshops through Writopia. It’s a sort of Southern Gothic ghost story and I’m really excited about it. Well, excited and a little terrified. It’s very different from the Cahill Witch Chronicles, but it still involves sisters and kissing. I hope I’ll have more to announce soon! Third,...
