Brief Hiatus
Hi again! I have a few things to share today:
First: I’ve been reading Cynthia Leitich Smith’s amazing blog for years, and have often been inspired by her interviews with new authors, so I was super-excited and honored to be featured on Cynsations yesterday! You can read about my revision process, what I did when I got The Call, and how I think BORN WICKED is relevant today. She is giving away 5 ARCs of BW, too!
Second: in addition to my signing this Saturday at 4pm with Miranda Kenneally at One More Page in Arlington, VA, I am doing another local event in March! I’ll be doing a panel and signing at Hooray for Books! with Tiffany Trent (THE UNNATURALISTS, CORSETS & CLOCKWORK) and Caitlin Kittredge (THE IRON THORN, THE NIGHTMARE GARDEN). It’s Saturday, March 24 at 3:30 pm. Please come hang out with us!
Third: I am going to take an internet hiatus for a week or so. I’ve been wrapped up in promo for the last month or two, and now I need to turn my attention back to Cahill book two. There’s some pressure in having a deadline, and while it’s always challenging for me to turn off my internal editor (I vastly prefer editing to drafting), now I’m also worrying about what my editor and my agent and friends and readers who are anxious for book 2 will think of this scene, this plot development, this sentence. It can be…sort of paralyzing, honestly. I need to immerse myself in Cate’s voice and her world and her problems — and that means spending less time on twitter, Facebook, my blog, Tumblr, Pinterest, email, etc. I may pop in here and there, because I feel weirdly nervous stepping away entirely when BW is so new, but please forgive me if I don’t respond as quickly as usual! I’ll be back soon!
