A TYRANNY OF PETTICOATS Review Roundup

This has been an A++ week in publishing news. I’m so happy to start the New Year by sharing some awesome reviews we’ve gotten for A TYRANNY OF PETTICOATS (which comes out March 8):

…historical fiction at its finest…The heroines are tough and memorable and full of heart, and the concept is irresistible. Stock up–this one will practically sell itself. — Booklist (starred review)

There is range and balance in tone, voice, and approach, a challenge for anthologies…Readers of historical fiction and adventure need look no further. — Kirkus

…a delightful selection of historical tales…These energizing, adventurous, and occasionally somber tales will readily please fans of historical fiction. — Publishers’ Weekly

I am so, so proud of this anthology! All 14 of my authors were delightful to work with, and their stories are so great, and our editors and publicist at Candlewick have been nothing but amazing. It’s truly been a highlight of my publishing career so far. Seeing our hard work recognized in these reviews–especially the star from Booklist!–means a lot to me. (I’ve only gotten one other starred review in my career so far, from VOYA, for BORN WICKED.) I know reviews shouldn’t matter too much, but the fact is that sometimes they do, especially for historical fiction, where we hope to get school and library sales. So: hooray, and I’m crossing my fingers for more good news to come in 2016!

P.S. Yay! ATOP was also included in these two awesome lists:

ciao Jessica, sono Loide e sono una avida lettrice dei tuoi libri.
A me piace scrivere e tu sei il mio idolo numero 1 ( number 1°), insieme a Jane Austen e le indimenticabili sorelle Bronte.
La storia delle sorelle Cahill è magnifica, pensa che Wicked, L’ho letto in due giorni….
Ora vado a studiare per avere più tempo per finire il secondo libro.
    un saluto dall’Italia…

Ciao Loide! Thank you so much for writing to me! I’m so happy that you are enjoying the Cahill sisters books! To even be mentioned in the same breath as Jane Austen or the Brontes is an enormous compliment. I hope you’ll enjoy the other books too. Good luck with your own writing!
