I’m currently working on a new project that I’m super excited about, and I’m hoping to have more news to share soon. In the meantime, the best place to find and connect with me online is Instagram.

Amanda Palmer

I have a new crush! And for once it’s not Gossip Girl-related. (Although last night’s episode? So good. And the next one looks OMFG worthy.) Steve and I went to a fabulous show tonight at the 9:30 Club. If you ever get a chance to see Amanda Palmer, do it. So fabulous! Steve’s been listening to her solo album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer, nonstop for the last two months. I was more than passingly familiar with her quirky songs, and I liked them enough that when he announced he was going to the concert, I made the unusual request to come with. But it was mostly so I could have a date with my husband in the midst of all his rehearsal madness. I didn’t know I would actually, um, have fun. I haven’t seen live music in ages. Too long, considering that music and musical friends were a huge part of my adolescence. But so...

Rambling

Typically, my Saturdays are ambitionless. My "schedule" is something like this: sleep in until noonish, peruse interwebs, late lunch, Harris Teeter, read or write a bit, dinner, glam up for show or game night or party. When we have no social plans, we default to episodes of NCIS (or, if I’m in a particularly giving mood, Law & Order) while playing Canasta, or listening to the Old 97s and playing Rummikub. Y’know, like little old people, basically. Today was not a typical Saturday. Steve is in tech all weekend. Rehearsals from 1-11 both today and tomorrow. I didn’t want to sit around lest I dwell on sadness, so I made plans. First I got up and went to yoga. I have been comfort-eating like a madwoman for almost two weeks and yoga kicked my ass. Then I met up with Liz for Thai food (best lemongrass chicken ever!) and a movie. I highly recommend Rachel Getting Married. Anne Hathaway was seriously amazing...

Question Friday: Paper Edition

Because I spent a good half an hour in Papyrus last night, marveling like a kid in a candy shop.   Calendar/planner: electronic OR old-fashioned paper?   Sending Christmas cards: yay OR nay?   Addressing envelopes: handwritten OR labels?   Borders, Barnes & Noble, OR other?   Gifting: Amazon OR local bookseller? (Don’t tell me you’re not giving any books for Christmas!)   Bonus: Newspaper, online edition, OR TV news? And which?

Yay or Nay?

So…I was just making fun of my sister for her Uggs this weekend, but now I kind of really want these Gap boots. Granted, it’s a rainy day. I did not check the forecast, and I’m wearing cute little flats, and said flats are leaking, leaving me sloshing around in wet shoes for my Starbucks run. All around me, coeds look ridiculously comfortable in their jeans and wellies and hoodies. Sometimes I miss being 18. But I’m 28. Almost 29. I do walk 20 minutes each way to the metro, though. Does that justify a pair of rain and/or snow boots like these? I would of course change into more appropriate work shoes at the office…but how silly would I look getting to and fro with these over my Limited dress pants? What do you think? Am I crazy? Have you seen cuter ones somewhere else? FWIW, I’ve got a red peacoat for winter that I think they’d match…
