I’m currently working on a new project that I’m super excited about, and I’m hoping to have more news to share soon. In the meantime, the best place to find and connect with me online is Instagram.

Fashion Friday: Shoes

I have a lot of shoes. The problem is, I have a lurid fascination with heels that I simply cannot walk in. I totally covet these:Gorgeous, right? But I’ve got half a dozen crazy heels gathering dust in my closet, because I can’t stand in them for hours at parties and I can’t walk in them around the city. So I’m trying to train myself to be sliiiightly more sensible. Sensible can still be cute!  Exhibit A: Caiti Feather Suede Ballet Flat (Ann Taylor Loft)  Exhibit B: G by Guess Delara Flat (DSW) Exhibit C: Yes I Twill (ModCloth) What do you think? Can you work giant sexy heels, or do you opt for comfort? Anything you’ve got your eye on this week?

Writing Update

Yesterday I finished my revision of Thrice-Blessed and sent it off to Awesome Agent Jim. I feel strangely confident about this ms. It was a sort of euphoric revision. I knew I was making it better; I could just tell. I added two scenes, but otherwise there were no huge structural changes, mostly world-building and character stuff. I keep feeling like–shouldn’t it be harder than this? Shouldn’t I feel all doubtful and angsty? I fought so much with my last book, and I worked on it for so long that I had a sort of revision blindness about whether I was making it better. Writing and revising Thrice has been really joyful and…I don’t want to say easy, because it’s never exactly easy. But…lighter. I am so excited about this ms. It’s my favorite thing I’ve ever written and I can’t wait to see what Jim thinks of it and...

I ♥ Monday

♥ Vampire Diaries. I marathoned the first 14 episodes this weekend. I am late to the party, I know, but now I’m totally in love with this show. I love Damon. And not just ’cause he’s hot–although when he was dancing around the house with Vicki? ZOMG. Mostly because he’s snarky and makes fun of Stefan. Stefan’s a little too earnest for me, and he has a little bit of a fivehead going on, although who cares with those abs. I am also terribly fond of Caroline. And Elena is surprisingly kickass after awhile. I can’t wait to finish the first season and get all caught up. Now I am tremendously excited to read the Smart Pop Vampire Diaries anthology! Also, you should all read Sarah Rees Brennan’s hilarious recap of the first two episodes. She loves Damon and Caroline too! ♥ In the next room, or The Vibrator Play by Sarah Ruhl....

Fashion Friday

Some things that have caught my eye, style-wise, this week: The Classic Beauty dress from ModCloth. I love the pattern and the colors. I’m not sure the pleats would work on me, though. The Curlytop Cardigan from Anthropologie. I am wishing & hoping that this will go on sale. This article over at Almost Pretty on Working Those Colorful Tights. I want a pair of pink tights to wear with my black & white polka-dot dress. I am also debating the bootie trend. I think they look cute with dresses and tights, but I’m not sure if I’d get enough use out of them. I’m definitely not a skinny-jeans kind of girl. What about you? Any fashion finds this week?

The Fun Kind of Research

I think my newest WIP idea might be sticking. I’m really, really excited about it. I’ve been doing lots of prewriting brainstorming research stuff this week. For instance, it involves high school theatre in a small town in central PA. Central PA surnames tend to be awesome in this Dutch and German-influenced way, but I didn’t want to use the last names of my own high school friends. My brilliant sister suggested that I mine our high school’s alumni page on Facebook. It was totally successful. Check it out: Lobaugh, Rohrbaugh, Schroeder, Schaffer, Schriver, Rebert, McCauslin, Hess, Redding, Wolfe, Gerhart, Gentz. Then I called my other sister to ask what her junior-year schedule was like. My bestie teaches juniors, but that’s in the NoVA suburbs where they have awesome options like Chinese, Creative Writing, Theatre Tech, and Psychology. We had way less elective options in our tiny school and they...
