Quoteskimming

I was going through my Drafts folder today and came across my quote collection. Here are some of my favorites:

A kiss can be a comma, a question mark or an exclamation point. That’s basic spelling that every woman ought to know.–French actress Mistinguett

Sir, more than kisses, letters mingle souls. For, thus friends absent speak. –John Donne

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.–Anais Nin

Develop interest in life as you see it; in people, things, literature, music – the world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures, beautiful souls and interesting people. Forget yourself.–Henry Miller

Long, look long and you will be blessed:
No one worth possessing
Can be quite possessed.

–Sara Teasdale

i thank You God for most this amazing day:
for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;
and for everything which is natural
which is infinite which is yes
— e.e. cummings

Much madness is divinest sense
To a discerning eye;
Much sense the starkest madness.
‘T is the majority
In this, as all, prevails.
Assent, and you are sane;
Demur, — you’re straightway dangerous,
And handled with a chain.

–Emily Dickinson

  1. I adore that Anais Nin quote!

    One of my favorite quotes is by G.K. Chesterton:

    To love means loving the unlovable.
    To forgive means pardoning the unpardonable.
    Faith means believing the unbelievable.
    Hope means hoping when everything seems hopeless.

    1. Oh, I love that! I haven't heard it before, but I've heard this one by Goethe: “Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” I wonder if they're the same original text?
