I’m currently working on a new project that I’m super excited about, and I’m hoping to have more news to share soon. In the meantime, the best place to find and connect with me online is Instagram.

Breathless Reads 2012 + Links

Hi! I’m so excited! Look at the poster Penguin made for the upcoming Breathless Reads tour! Isn’t it super-shiny? Note the spaces underneath our book covers for us to sign! I have my pink pens totally ready. The Breathless Reads Facebook page has all the tour info! I have also been doing some interviews here and there around the internets: A BTL Bullet-Point Five on the Penguin BTL blog. BORN WICKED releases next Wednesday in Australia and New Zealand! Want to see what dress I’d wear if I were a debutante? And find out why I stopped writing for a few years? Check out my guest post for Lisa at Bad-Ass Bookie. And last but not least, I really enjoyed answering these great questions for Usagi at The Witch of Theatregoing. Beware, though, if you haven’t read the book yet — they’re a bit spoilery! I just got my itinerary for...

On Not Liking Things Honestly

Sometimes, I think: why do reviewers have to be unkind? Then I remember that I have seen several plays so awful I would gouge out my eyes rather than sit through them again. Obviously, this is hyperbole. I like my eyes.  Also, sometimes The Playwright has really enjoyed them. Lo, we have had many arguments about plays! I don’t like experimental theatre. I like plays that have a recognizable plot of some sort and characters and make sense. It’s not the plays — well, sometimes it is, sometimes they’re really just awful — it’s me. They are not my cup of tea. I try to avoid seeing things that are clearly in this category but sometimes I go see a festival piece and it turns out to be hideous and reminds me of grad school and I play with my rings in the stage lights and brainstorm new scenes in my head...

YAmazing Race

Welcome to my stop on the YAmazing Race with MGnificent prizes, a whirlwind internet contest featuring over 50 debut authors and prize packs consisting of ARCs, gift certificates, swag, and many other cool and desirable items. If you stumbled upon this by accident, the best place to start is at the Apocalypsies website. Now, on to the BORN WICKED stop! Everybody knows Cate Cahill and her sisters are eccentric. Too pretty, too reclusive, and far too educated for their own good. But the truth is even worse: they’re witches. And if their secret is discovered by the priests of the Brotherhood, it would mean an asylum, a prison ship—or an early grave. Before her mother died, Cate promised to protect her sisters. But with only six months left to choose between marriage and the Sisterhood, she might not be able to keep her word…especially after she finds her mother’s diary,...

BW Launch Party

First, congratulations to Megan at Book Brats for winning my last contest!  Second, launch party! I’m sorry I’m not sending out actual invitations. I had a plan to make super-cute postcards but things are just too crazed right now between massively rewriting book two & answering blog interviews & preparing to go on my bookseller dinner tour next week. There’s this constant tiny thrum of anxiety, hovering just beneath the surface, reminding me of everything I have to do and how little time I have to do it in. Eek! BUT I would love to see everyone there! I think it’ll be a super-fun time! BORN WICKED LAUNCH PARTY Saturday, February 11 6:30 pm SOVA  1359 H Street NE Washington, DC 20002   Sova is the coffee shop/wine bar in my neighborhood where The Playwright and I often write. Books will be sold by my local indie, The Fairy Godmother, and I...

Thrice Interview Series: THE CABINET OF EARTHS

Hi! Today we’re celebrating the release of Anne Nesbet’s MG fantasy THE CABINET OF EARTHS, which released last week! All Maya really wants is for her mother to be well again. But when her baby brother James goes missing, 12-year-old Maya has to take on the magical underworld of Paris, in which houses have bronze salamanders for door handles, the most beautiful people are all hooked on the sweet-smelling “anbar,” and a shimmering glass Cabinet of Earths has chosen Maya to be its next keeper. With the Cabinet’s help, Maya may be able to do for her mother what doctors cannot: save her from death, once and for all. But now that the clock is ticking for James, the price the Cabinet demands may be too high.   About the Thrice Interview Series: The original title for BORN WICKED was THRICE BLESSED. I have a tattoo with the word thrice, which...
