News

I’m currently working on a new project that I’m super excited about, and I’m hoping to have more news to share soon. In the meantime, the best place to find and connect with me online is Instagram.

Friday 5

1. I have a pub date! BORN WICKED will be out February 7, 2012! 02/07/12. I like the look of that. Being able to put it on my calendar makes it feel so real! 2. I saw my cover on Wednesday. It is so, so pretty and I love it. It’s not final and who knows when I will be able to share it. But I’m very, very happy with it! 3. I am donating a prize for the Help Write Now auction to benefit the Red Cross and victims of the horrible storms last month. My prize will be a 50-page critique, a query critique, and the chance to have a character (a girl accused of witchery) named after you in BORN WICKED. If you’re interested, it will be posted on Saturday and will run through Monday. 4. Thanks to everyone who left me birthday wishes on Tuesday and...

Birthday Celebration Contest

It’s my birthday! This has been a CRAMAZING year. I mean: I dyed my hair pink, got a tattoo, and sold a trilogy! In fact, I found out yesterday that The Cahill Witch Chronicles have now sold in the UK to Penguin UK! Also, I am officially part-time at my day job! I’m only working Tuesday-Thursday. It’s crazy to think that by next year, I’ll be able to hold a book I wrote in my hands. I’ll be able to go into bookstores and see BORN WICKED on the shelf. I’ll have finished writing the sequel. I’ll be a full-time writer. Who knows what else? A year ago I didn’t even dream this big. You know who else’s birthday it is today? SHIFT by Jeri Smith-Ready. DIVERGENT by Veronica Roth. THE SUMMER OF FIRST & LASTS by Terra McVoy. MOONGLASS by Jessi Kirby. Want to help me celebrate? Leave a...

Important Decisions

So, next Saturday I’m throwing my third annual Cupcakes & Cosmos birthday party. It is an easy theme. Basically, I ask guests to bring unto me cupcakes, and in return I will ply them with the cocktail of their choice. I think ginger mojitos were the cocktail of choice last year, but Cupcakes & Mojitos doesn’t have the same ring to it and I really dig alliteration. ANYWAY. This year I’m feeling swank so I’m going to order some cupcakes from my favorite cupcake purveyor, Georgetown Cupcake. But–oh, first-world decisions!–which cupcakes to order? I am leaning strongly toward Salted Caramel and Key Lime, but I need your help, dear readers. Kindly select which 3 cupcakes sound yummiest to you. [polldaddy poll=4998331]

Fashion Friday: Awesome Hat Edition

I couldn’t resist. I didn’t stay up to watch the royal wedding, but the first thing I did at work this morning was look at pictures! And the dresses: Princess Kate’s dress was beautiful! So elegant. I loved her sister Pippa’s sexy bridesmaid dress too. Some of the hats were crazysauce (I’m looking at you, Princesses Beatrice & Eugenie). But some kind of rocked. Left: Sophie Winkleman, AKA Lady Frederick Windsor. So glam! Right: Princess Letizia of Spain. So cute & demure!             Left: Miriam Gonzalez, wife of the Deputy Prime Minister. Saucy! Right: Lady Eliza Spencer, royal cousin, at the top. I wish I could find a better picture, but I’m thinking I LOVE her fascinator. Did you watch the royal wedding? What was your favorite hat? Also, don’t Brits have the best names? Pippa. Eliza. Sophie. *sigh*

Wednesday 5? I Don’t Even Know

Thanks to everyone who chimed in on my author photos! We’re going with #2 for the Penguin catalog and the book jacket. I am a wee bit frazzled with revisions this week (see above blog post title–I stared at the blank for like five minutes all I have to call it something! because my brain is kind of broken). But I wanted to share some things that I’m excited about: BUMPED by Megan McCafferty (released yesterday!) A fascinating dystopia in which adults are infertile and teenage girls are raised to pregg for profit. Harmony and Melody are twins who were separated at birth: one reared to be the perfect surrogate, with a huge contraception contract that will pay for Princeton, and one reared in religious Goodside to be the perfect wife and mother. Both end up rebelling. I connected more with Melody (the secular twin) than Harmony, but I’ve read...
