I’m currently working on a new project that I’m super excited about, and I’m hoping to have more news to share soon. In the meantime, the best place to find and connect with me online is Instagram.
The Kiss Knee-Length Dress from Betsey Johnson. Dear Reader, I bought it. Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! And check back here early next week for a very happy-making announcement.
♥ Manatees. I just spent a long weekend on the most amazing writing retreat in Key Largo. There were four manatees that swam in the canal behind our house every morning. They really enjoyed drinking fresh water from the garden hose. We could lay flat out on the concrete and pet them, and they were an incredible combination of bulky and graceful. I could become a morning person for manatees. They’re THAT adorable. See? ♥ Darren Criss as Blaine. Kurt too. But Blaine is my new GLEE crush. I’m so glad tonight’s episode was fun, because last week’s (aside from the Rent song) kinda sucked. I’m neither a Bieber fan nor a Sam fan. ♥ Pink champagne. I’ve never been a champagne girl but it turns out pink champagne is yummy. I should have known. PINK IS THE SECRET OF AWESOME. ♥ My amazingly supportive agent-sisters Robin and Caroline, who... 1. I pared down my Google Reader recently because I just. can’t. keep up. But now I’m wondering: which writer and/or industry blogs do you love? A few of my favorite authors-I-don’t-know-IRL blogs are Stephanie Perkins, Laini Taylor, and Natalie Whipple. I am also hugely fond of Shrinking Violets. I am, however, sort of terrible about clicking through and commenting on non-LJ blogs. 2. Do you follow book bloggers? My faves are Green Bean Teen Queen and Presenting Lenore, and I follow a few others as well. But I know there are SO many out there. Who are your favorites? 3. What’s on your to-be-read tower at the moment? Anything you recommend? I have an Amazon gift certificate that’s burning a hole in my inbox. I’m reading THE IRON DAUGHTER now, soon to be followed by THE IRON QUEEN, and I’m in love with this series. I need to do a book-recommending post soon! On my definitely-buying pile includes... I ♥ writing kissing scenes best of all. I’ve noticed that some people have been posting kissing scenes from upcoming books or WIPs and thought I’d jump on board. This is a scene from Court of Thorns, my Sleeping Beauty retelling. The lady in question is Kira, the bastard half-fey best friend of Princess Tala. The gentleman in question is Takumi, prince of the far-flung ninth kingdom, the last in a long line of princes come to woo Tala. Ostensibly. However, he has just maneuvered Kira into the courtyard. I’m very fond of the banter that precedes the kissing, but I don’t want to post too much. Let me know what you think! The sharp autumn wind cuts through the courtyard and sends clouds scudding over the moon. I shiver and wrap my arms around myself. “Here,” the Prince says, shrugging out of his long frock coat. He settles it... Read More
I’m home! I’m pleased to report that I was neither eaten nor sacrificed to Freddy the Moose during the giant writers’ retreat in Branson. Despite being snowbound for an extra day and falling one by one to the plague, it was a wonderful trip. I’m grateful to have been included. It was fantastic to meet so many other writers. It was fantastic to feel like no one questioned who the random pink-haired girl with all the “real writers” was. When I mentioned that one of my goals is to be able to say I’m a writer without and I work as an admin assistant, I got lots of “but you are a real writer!” responses. Which was super-affirming—but I don’t always feel that way when I have to spend more time as the latter. So just having a place at the long, laptop-laden table—being able to read the first page...
