I’m currently working on a new project that I’m super excited about, and I’m hoping to have more news to share soon. In the meantime, the best place to find and connect with me online is Instagram.

Question Friday: Spring Edition

Tulips OR daisies?   Marshmallow peeps OR chocolate bunnies?   Favorite springy color: purple, green, OR yellow?   Spring cleaning: yay OR nay?   Pineapples, strawberries, OR cherries?   Peas OR carrots?   Bonus: what are you most looking forward to about this spring?   One thing I’m excited about is being able to buy fresh local fruits and vegetables again. Food & Wine has some great recipes using spring produce.

Things I

<3: The Beatles channel on Pandora. In the last half hour I’ve heard "Mrs. Robinson," "My Generation," "All You Need Is Love," and "Maybe I’m Amazed." It’s the perfect antidote to a slow, rainy day.   <3: The Beatles, generally. I haven’t listened to them in ages but my cupcake girl, Emma, is a huge fan and I’m playing around with different songs as ringtones for her friends and fam. What’s your favorite Beatles song?   <3: Impromptu plans. My friend Laura g-chatted me this morning to let me know she’d be in town for a conference today. We’re going to meet up for coffee and maybe dinner.   <3: Theatre! In the next week: Squat at Catholic, 7 Jewish Children coproduced by Theater J and Forum, Antebellum at Woolly, and Chicago at the National. I’m so excited! And almost all of it’s comped, too.   <3: I saw two young nuns...

Question Friday: TV Showdown Edition

House OR Grey’s Anatomy?   Lost OR Heroes?   America’s Next Top Model OR Project Runway?   Gossip Girl OR One Tree Hill?   The Daily Show OR The Colbert Report?   Battlestar Galactica OR Firefly?   Bonus: What’s your favorite crime procedural? Mine is The Mentalist. Mainly ’cause my crush on Patrick Jane outweighs my crush on Ziva from NCIS.   Fess up! What are you watching these days? Oh, and if you’re not a LiveJournal user, don’t forget to sign your name!

Things I

<3: We Heart It, which I found thanks to bracken , allows you to search for and save stunning visuals. As a dramaturg, I made lots of image collages for plays I worked on to help actors and directors connect to the material. I am making one for me now, for my magic cupcake V-Day love book, and it is so much fun. <3: Taylor Swift. Her new CD Fearless is quickly becoming the soundtrack for my cupcake book, especially the songs “Fifteen” and “You Belong with Me.” <3: My new yogalates class. Way easier than my power yoga class on the whole, but there were some killer moves, and I’m still hurting two days later. <3: Gossip Girl is back! Not quite back to top form yet, I think, but maybe on its way? I loved Nate’s hissyfit and Blair’s downward spiral and S’s brain reaching maximum capacity and...

Book Recommendations

I read three awesome books last week. Seriously awesome. 5-stars on Goodreads awesome. (I run a tight Goodreads scoring ship, folks. I only give 5 stars to books I really, completely love.) First I read Saundra Mitchell’s Shadowed Summer. It’s a beautiful Southern ghost story. Iris and her best friend Collette and Collette’s new boyfriend Ben explore the mystery of Elijah Landry’s disappearance—with some input from Elijah’s ghost. I was hooked from page 2, when Iris explains: We were bigger than Ondine, better than the ordinary people who came and went and never stopped to wonder what lay underneath the church’s tiger lilies to give them such bloodred hearts. Nobody but us seemed to wonder or bother or ask about anything, and we felt strangled being the only ones. That took me right back to growing up in a one-stoplight town, being drama kids in a town where Friday night...
