I’m currently working on a new project that I’m super excited about, and I’m hoping to have more news to share soon. In the meantime, the best place to find and connect with me online is Instagram.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from Monkey & The Playwright & me!               Tomorrow we’re heading up to Gettysburg to spend Christmas with my family. Tonight we are going to a Hanukkah party. Maybe. Steve is going, but I twisted my neck this morning and am now lumbering around the house like Frankenstein, unable to turn my head to the left without crying. I might have to stay home and read a book in bed instead. I have several Apocalypsies ARCs on my nightstand, so that wouldn’t be such a bad proposition actually. Except the Hanukkah party is latke-themed: the hosts are making latkes, the guests are bringing toppings, there is a competition for Best Topping, and Steve is making both a sriracha cream sauce and a cheese & faux-bacon sauce! *sadface* I would be sad to miss it. But tomorrow I’ll get to see my mom...

On First Drafts & Letting Go

Item 1: Congratulations to Petra at Safari Poet who won my Witchy Sisters Prize Pack! And stay tuned – in January I’ll be giving away my last two ARCS, along with some other much-coveted galleys (*cough* BITTERBLUE *cough*). Item 2: I’m going to do another round of BW swag mailings, so if you’d like some bookmarks and stickers, email me with your address at cahillwitch (at) gmail (dot) com. I will send them out after the holidays! I promised a book two process post and I totally never did it! Whoops. The thing is, I was a little overwhelmed by book two. Writing a sequel under contract and with at three-month deadline is a different beast. It feels less like play, more like work. It doesn’t feel as though it’s just mine – it’s for my editor, and for readers, some of whom are already reading BORN WICKED and having Opinions...

Question Friday: Cookie Edition

Today’s question is in honor of my bestie and her mom, who are spending tomorrow doing their epic annual Cookie Day, baking a dozen different kinds. (My favorite of theirs is always the chocolate cookie with the Rolo inside.) 1. Sugar cookies: soft and chewy, OR thin and crunchy? 2. Sugar cookies: sprinkles, icing, both, OR neither? 3. Snickerdoodles OR gingerbread men OR chewy molasses? 4. Chocolate chip OR chocolate-chocolate chip OR peanut butter Hershey’s kiss cookies? 5. Cranberry-white-chocolate OR orange cookies? What’s your favorite Christmas cookie? I’m going to go with these cardamom cookies.

December Giveaway: Witchy Sisters Prize Pack

First: congratulations to Sarah from Escaping Through Books, who won a signed copy of CATCHING JORDAN! Guess what? Two months from today, BORN WICKED will be on shelves! I’m so excited! I’m even more excited because I found out yesterday in a marketing conference call that it will be for sale at independent bookstores, Barnes & Noble, Wal-Mart, Target, Kroger’s, and airports! I love browsing at local indies and Barnes & Noble. I’m grateful to live in a place that gives me lots of bookstore options! But I grew up in a tiny town where the nearest bookstore was 45 minutes away, so to have my book stocked at Wal-Mart — where my mom can see it while taking my grandfather to run errands on a Sunday afternoon — means something to me. I love that my book will be more accessible for people who live in little middle-of-nowhere towns...
