Friday Finds #4

Here are a few of my favorite finds this week:   Introvert Fairy Tales (I love Belle and Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood best.) Texts from Little Women (not *as* hilarious as Texts from Jane Eyre, but still funny) Veronica Roth’s Advice for Young Writers, which is useful I think for all writers. (I particularly liked this: Instead, hold these two ideas in tension in your mind: your work is not worthless. Your work could use improvement.) reading: SPLENDID, a historical romance by Julia Quinn books out this week that I most want to buy: Colleen Clayton’s WHAT HAPPENS NEXT watching: saw a great play last night – HOLLY DOWN IN HEAVEN at Forum Theatre. Consequently I missed VAMPIRE DIARIES – so no spoilers, ok?  working on: creating a sort of daily routine for myself. Let’s be honest, I won’t always stick to it, but I think my complete lack of one...

Thrice Interview: WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Hi! Today we’re celebrating the release of WHAT HAPPENS NEXT by Colleen Clayton. I haven’t had a chance to read this one yet, but it sounds fantastic! How can you talk about something that you can’t remember? Before the ski trip, Cassidy “Sid” Murphy was a cheerleader (on the bottom of the pyramid, but still…) and a straight-A student, with two of the best friends a girl could ask for.  When Sid finds herself on a ski lift with hunky local college guy, Dax Windsor, she’s thrilled. “Come to a party with me,” he tells her, but Dax isn’t what he seems. He takes everything from Sid-including a lock of her perfect red curls-and she can’t remember any of it. After the ski trip, Sid is an insomniac and an obsessive late-night runner, unable to relate to her old friends. Caught in a downward spiral, Sid drops her college prep...

Friday Finds #3

Here are a few of my favorite finds this week:   art: This ANNE OF GREEN GABLES wedding photo shoot (found via Genn Albin) purchase: Crannyberry tea (it has cranberries + raspberries + black tea and it smells so amazing!) reading: BLACK CITY by Elizabeth Richards (which I am loving –  the dystopian world-building here is fascinating, and the forbidden romance is so swoony!). Also, you should totally check out the gorgeous cover reveal for the sequel, PHOENIX, which I am going to be begging Editor Ari for asap!  books out this week that I most want to buy: SEND ME A SIGN by Tiffany Schmidt and STEALING PARKER by Miranda Kenneally – I loved both of them! (Tiffany & Miranda are friends of mine, but I wouldn’t say this if it weren’t true, promise!) watching: HART OF DIXIE is back! Yay! also watching: Last night we went to the...

Thrice Interview: CHASING THE SKIP

Hi! Today we’re celebrating the release of CHASING THE SKIP by Janci Patterson. I haven’t had a chance to read this one yet, but it sounds fascinating! Ricki’s dad has never been there for her. He’s a bounty hunter who spends his time chasing parole evaders—also known as “skips”—all over the country. But now since Ricki’s mom ran off, Ricki finds herself an unwilling passenger in a front-row seat to her father’s dangerous lifestyle. Ricki’s feelings get even more confused when her dad starts chasing seventeen-year-old Ian Burnham. She finds herself unavoidably attracted to the dark-eyed felon who seems eager to get acquainted. But Ricki thinks she’s ever in control—the perfect manipulator. Little does she know that Ian isn’t playing their game by her rules. And now for the interview: 1. Describe your main character in 3 adjectives + a noun.  Ricki is a confused, road-tripping, skip-chasing blogger. 2. Describe...

Thrice Interview: SEND ME A SIGN

Hi! Today we’re celebrating the release of SEND ME A SIGN by Tiffany Schmidt! They say: Mia is always looking for signs. A sign that she should get serious with her soccer-captain boyfriend. A sign that she’ll get the grades to make it into an Ivy-league school. One sign she didn’t expect to look for was: “Will I survive cancer?” It’s an answer her friends would never understand, prompting Mia to keep her illness a secret. The only one who knows is her lifelong best friend, Gyver, who is poised to be so much more. Mia is determined to survive, but when you have so much going your way, there is so much more to lose. From debut author Tiffany Schmidt comes a heart-wrenching and ultimately uplifting story of one girl’s search for signs of life in the face of death. I say: I was worried this would be a Cancer Book. I...
